WS-bred son of Noverre wins in Aus
Waikato Stud-bred and owned Jean Georges broke through in impressive fashion at just his third career start in Australia today (24 September), adding another winner to the growing record of Noverre.
Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by Jye McNeil, the promising three-year-old stepped up to 2050m for the first time and relished the extra distance to secure a well-deserved maiden victory.
Jean Georges had signalled a win wasn’t far away when finishing second over 1600m at his previous start, and the step up in trip proved exactly what he was looking for.
Bred and raced by Waikato Stud, Jean Georges is out of the multiple Group 1-winning mare Bonneval, making him an exciting young horse to follow as he continues to progress through his first preparation.
The victory also continued a strong week for Noverre, with Jean Georges becoming his second new winner in Australia in the space of three days.
On Tuesday, three-year-old filly Oceans Fouroseven produced an emphatic six-length victory, giving the young Waikato Stud sire further momentum across the Tasman.
With just three starts under his belt and already showing an appreciation for a staying trip, there looks to be plenty more to come from Jean Georges.
The Corner with Garry Chittick
