Another Savabeel makes a Guineas case
26 August 2013
Savabeel produced another Caulfield Guineas hope at the weekend when Best Case posted a first-up victory at Gosford. The well-related three-year-old holds a nomination for the Group One feature, as does Éclair Big Bang, also a son of the WS stallion, who took his record to two wins from as many starts when he successfully resumed at Morphettville.
Trained by Anthony Cummings, Best Case was put aside after finishing sixth at his two-year-old debut in April and returned on a top note yesterday over 1200 metres. The WS graduate was a A$170,000 Sydney Easter Yearling Sale purchase.
He is out of the winning Last Tycoon mare Ambitious, who was a Gr 1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas runner-up. Her dam Starcent (Centaine) also ran second in the Guineas, as well as the Gr 1 Levin Classic, and had dual Group Three victories in the Gold Trail and Lowland Stakes to her credit.
