Black Type Win For Thy
18 March 2013
A fine tactical ride by Luke Nolen was instrumental in Thy earning black type success at Warwick Farm on Saturday. The lightly-tried O’Reilly mare was too good in the Listed Aspiration Quality in the second appearance of a new campaign.
Third in last season’s Gr 1 Australian Oaks at Rosehill, the WS-bred and raced mare crossed for a soft lead and Nolen was able to control the race from the front. When he asked Thy for a serious effort in the run home she responded for the third win of her 10 start career for Peter Moody.
She is out of the Gr 2 Travis Stakes winner Star Affair who is also the dam of the Gr 3 Summner Cup winner Solid Billing and Galileo’s Galaxy who is Gr 1 performed in South Africa. Thy is also closely related to the Gr 1 NZ 1000 Guineas and Gr 1 International Stakes winner The Jewel (O’Reilly).
