Brambles Completes Grand Double For Stud

WS graduate Brambles completed a significant trans-Tasman double for resident sire Savabeel with his age group success in Brisbane on Saturday. The Zabeel stallion’s daughter Fromelles had earlier triumphed in the Gr 3 Rotorua Cup at home and at Doomben it was Savabeel’s three-year-old son who claimed the Gr 3 Rough Habit Plate.

Purchased for $100,000 out of the Matamata stud’s 2010 Karaka line-up by trainer Peter Moody, Brambles has won three races and has yet to miss a cheque in eight appearances. Jockey Brad Rawiller gave the gelding a sweet run behind the pace and once clear he came with the last run. “I spoke to Peter this morning and he was very confident,” Rawiller told Sky Racing World. “We had a lovely run, obviously from the gate you get that and he was too good in the finish.”

Brambles is out of the winning Pins mare Prickle, who is a sister to the Listed Winter Cup winner Legsman. Their dam Snobbish (Centaine) is a sister to the WS-bred Slight Chance, winner of six Group One races and the dam of the promising stallion Dane Shadow.
