Connections Savour The Moment At Riccarton
13 November 2011
Savabeel’s promising son Savour The Moment added another string to his bow at Riccarton this afternoon. The four-year-old allayed any fears about his ability to cope with seriously rain-affected going when he claimed the Rating 85 mile with authority.
The gelding, who now has fashioned the excellent form line of three wins and four placings from nine starts, came into the race off the back of a runner-up finish the previous Saturday. “His run on the first day was good and he dropped three kilos and was up to the mile,” Cambridge trainer Stephen Marsh said. “The wet track was out only concern and he hadn’t handled it before but that was on really deep tracks at Ellerslie. He’s a good horse with a bright future.”
Raced by the Albert Bosma-managed Go Racing With The Mistress Syndicate, Savour The Moment was bred by Garry Chittick and sold through the farm’s Premier Sale draft in 2009 for $37,500. He is out of an unraced half-sister to Danasar (Listed Flying Handicap) and the dam of Viennetta (Gr 2 Breeders’ Stakes) . It is also the family of the Anacheeva (Caulfield Guineas) and Headturner (Gr 1 VRC Derby).
