Costume Powers Home for Extra Special Gr.1 Win

Tiptoes Makes A Stand

A filly with a golden pedigree opened her account in fine style for WS at Otaki today with a brave performance to add to her future broodmare value. The well-related Tiptoes had posted three minor placings from a handful of starts before her victory over 1200 metres for trainer Kevin Gray and rider Lisa Allpress.

The chestnut is a daughter of Pins and the Centaine mare River Century who has enjoyed a decorated breeding career. She is the dam of the Chittick family’s dual Gr 1 New Zealand Oaks and Kelt Capital Stakes winner Legs (Pins) and the WS-bred and sold Guyno (O’Reilly). He won the Gr 1 WATC Derby at three and is still making his presence felt at black type level with recent wins in the Gr 3 Lord Reims Stakes and the Listed Mornington Cup.

Tiptoes showed good early speed from the barrier yesterday to sit outside the leader and was travelling comfortably on the home turn. When asked for a serious effort by Allpress the three-year-old lengthened stride to post her maiden success by a comfortable half a length.
