Diademe a golden purchase

A daughter of Savabeel created major interest during last week’s broodmare sale on the Gold Coast. The well-performed Diademe was offered through the draft of Attunga Stud, of Scone, and was knocked down for $A740,000.

Global breeding and racing giant Coolmore joined forces with the China Horse Club to purchase the Group One winner. She was bred by WS’s Garry Chittick and raced by Scott Richardson, who bought her out of the Matamata nursery’s 2010 Premier Sale line-up at Karaka for $50,000.

Out of the O’Reilly mare Bling, Diademe won seven races with her career highlight a victory in the NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes at Te Aroha She also claimed the Gr 2 Cal Isuzu Stakes and the Gr 3 Westbury Classic (twice).
