Dicko’s Dance delivers Banquo’s seventh Wwinner
Banquo was represented by his seventh individual winner at Tauranga on Wednesday, when Dicko’s Dance took out Race 3 over 1400m to the delight of the United Matamata Sports Rugby Club Syndicate.
Carrying the club’s red, black and white colours, the three-year-old gelding drew the loudest cheer of the day as he passed the post. From barrier six in a field of 12, Dicko’s Dance jumped cleanly and settled in the box seat behind leader Whistlejacket.
The pair locked horns over the final 200m and drew some four lengths clear of the rest, but it was the Banquo gelding who found the most late to give trainers Darryn and Briar Weatherly the win.
From just two racing crops, Banquo has had 16 runners for seven winners, headed by Group winner Justin Case (ex Do Ra Mi), who is being aimed at the $4 million NZB Kiwi in March 2027.
Banquo stands at Waikato Stud this season for a fee of $5,000 plus GST.

It is both disappointing and ironical that what should be a simple, straightforward business provides a regular need for comment.
