Fancy Dress comes to the winning party

Fancy Dress made an impressive return to racing at Newcastle yesterday with an emphatic first-up win over 1200 metres. The Savabeel mare sat off the pace and finished powerfully under James McDonald to post the third win of her seven-start career.

Prepared by John O’Shea, the four-year-old is raced by her breeder Waikato Stud and is out of the Pins mare Pin Up. She was a two-time winner in a brief Australian career and was also stakes placed at Flemington.

Pin Up is a daughter of the Matamata farm’s three-time New Zealand Broodmare of the Year Flying Floozie. The star of her brood has been Starcraft, who became the first New Zealand-bred to win at Group One level in Europe, while Forum Floozie was a stakes winner and a runner-up in the Coolmore Classic.
