Flamingo flies at Trentham
Flamingo has moved stylishly into contention for next weekend’s Group 3 Cuddle Stakes at Trentham. The WS-bred and raced mare returned a smart dress rehearsal on the capital city course this afternoon with the third win of her fledgeling career.
Placed in the Group 3 Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes last season, the David and Emma Haworth-trained for-year-old provided rider Sam Wynne with her fourth winner of the day. They settled midfield before improving across the top and rounded off powerfully in the run home.
The well-named Flamingo is out of the Danasinga mare Bird, who won the Listed Warstep Stakes at Riccarton. She hails from a strong black type family which includes the Group Two winners and Group One performers Seraphic, Irlanda and Chintz.

They were underdone; the Indian Order, I think, sold for $1200, the Holy Smoke went up in smoke. A complete lunatic, it was suggested we remove him from the grounds and return when close to sale in the hope we could secretly drop him on some unsuspecting enthusiast.
