Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes Considered for O’Fille

O’Reilly’s smart 4YO daughter O’Fille could be bound for the Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes (3+F&M, 2000m) on March 17 following her bold 1 ¾ length win at Matamata on Saturday.

O’Fille made it back-to-back wins when taking out the Richardson Racing Stables 1400 in the hands of Noel Harris, prompting Wanganui trainer Wayne Marshment to give serious consideration to the Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes.

“I’ll talk to her owners Steven Meredith, Charlie Waaka and Joy Work tomorrow, but the goal all along has been the Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes at Trentham,” he said.

According to Marshment, O’Fille has taken the dominant Matamata outing in her stride.

“When she got home at 11:30pm, she ate up everything she could. That’s her though, nothing worries her, you can’t stop her eating,” he said.

Interestingly, the three from nine winner didn’t always count the most laid back of temperaments.

“She used to buck like hell, so we took her to the beach and that just made her. We’ve never had a problem since.”

Bred by Peter Smith, O’Fille is by O’Reilly and is out of the unraced Grosvenor mare La Fille, who recently produced a cracking Fast N Famous colt for Waikato’s very own Neill Ross.
