Home Town Win For Sharbeela’s Co-Breeder
10 May 2012
Sharbeela picked an appropriate stage to play her first winning role on when she was triumphant at Wanganui today. The Savabeel filly was bred by River City resident Chris Turner and WS who have enjoyed a long and successful association.
Trained at Woodville by Gary Barlow, the three-year-old had weighed in no fewer than seven times from her previous 10 starts without breaking through. “She’s gone right through on some wet tracks which haven’t really suited her and she’s still got some developing to do,” he said.
Sharbeela is raced on lease by Turner and Barlow and a syndicate including first time owners Anthony Dellabarca, Phillip Dellabarca, Ron Scott, Peter Reid, Helen Henkes and Lance Gay.
She is a daughter of the Oak Ridge mare Sahrhys, who won four races including the Gr 3 Lowland Stakes. She has done a good job at stud with the star of her brood so far the Pins mare Rhysess, whose five career victories featured the Gr 3 Cuddle Stakes.
