Savabeel’s Singapore Star On Classic Mission

Savabeel currently enjoys a strong record in Singapore and the WS stallion is in line for further honours at Kranji on Sunday. His exciting three-year-old son Nandowra will attempt to complete a hat-trick of wins when he takes aim at the Gr 2 Singapore 3YO Classic over 1400 metres.

The home-bred gelding was a fast-finishing fourth on debut from the Michael Freedman stable and has since been in the winning groove with consecutive impressive and clear-cut victories. He will be again be ridden by his regular rider John Powell in the black-type feature.

The sire of recent Australasian stake winners Do Ra Mi (Gr 2 Kewney Stakes), Kudakulari (Listed Canberra Guineas), Dowager Queen (Listed Champagne Stakes), Savabill (Listed Matamata Slipper) and Scarlett Lady (Listed Manawatu Breeders’ Stakes), Savabeel has been represented by three from four winners in Singapore . Their 21 starts have returned a combined tally of eight wins and four placings and more than $330,000 in stakes.

Nandowra was originally bought by top Melbourne trainer Peter Moody out of WS’s Premier Sale draft for $25,000 at Karaka in 2009. He is the first foal of the winning O’Reilly mare Fabaz who is a half-sister to the Gr 3 Summer Cup winner Zanetta. This represents a family with a proven track record in Asia with Gr 2 Sha Tin Vase winner Astimonti (Kinjite) also featuring in the pedigree.
