Jack Makes His Point At Awapuni
21 May 2012
Jack’s Point made an impressive return to the races on Saturday when he streeted his Rating 85 sprint rivals on his home track. The WS-bred and sold son of Pins hadn’t raced since October, but was presented in fine fettle by Awapuni trainer Lisa Latta and he romped home by a widening margin.
The winner of six races, the five-year-old was a $120,000 yearling purchase in 2008 by Taupo-based bloodstock agent Paul Beamish and is raced by Lincoln Farms. Jack’s Point is out of the Kinjite mare Activate, who won six races and finished fourth in the Gr 3 New Zealand St Leger.
She is also a three-quarter sister to the Gr 2 Sha Tin Vase winner Astimonti (Kinjite) and the Gr 3 Summer Cup winner Zanetta (Centaine). WS offered a half-sister by O’Reilly to Jack’s Point at Karaka last year and the filly was knocked down for $45,000 to Latta.
