James secures smart O’Reilly colt

Silent Achiever’s trainer Roger James has enjoyed outstanding success with O’Reilly’s progeny and he secured another smart type on the second day of the Select Sale. The WS colt is out of the stakes performed Green Perfume mare Swan Lake.

She is a half-sister to James’ Gr 1 New Zealand Derby winner Hades, who as Helene Vitality was a top-flight placegetter in both Hong Kong and Dubai, and to the dual Gr 3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup winner Everbright. The O’Reilly colt was signed for by James with Red Diamond Racing for $115,000.

A family that has served WS so well was also to the fore with Dynamic Syndications and champion trainer Gai Waterhouse joining forces to secure a well-related daughter of Savabeel for $70,000. The filly is out of the unraced Pins mare Swarovski, who is a three-quarter sister to the multiple winner and Group performer Glintz. She was a $A420,000 Sydney Easter Sale yearling with her dam the Listed Rotorua Stakes winner Glitzy while Irish Flirt (Gr 3 Thames Valley Stakes), McFlirt (Listed Challenge Stakes, Listed Belgravia Stakes) and Darkside (2nd Gr 1 Avondale Cup) also feature on the pedigree page.

An O’Reilly filly was sold to agent Robt Dawe for $65,000 during a quieter session for the stud. She is out of the Volksraad are The Speaker, who won three times and was stakes placed. She is a three-quarter sister to the Gr 1 Wellington Cup winner Willy Smith and the family of the Gr 1 Hong Kong Cup Classic winner It Has To Be You.
