Kawi back in grand style

Star Savabeel five-year-old Kawi showed he was in fine touch for upcoming features with a sizzling return at Awapuni on Saturday. He claimed the Redcraze Bowl in the hands of stable apprentice Dylan Mo, whose performance also drew praise from the Taranaki trainer.
“He got in tight quarters, but he didn’t panic and he did a great job,” Sharrock said. “He’s starting to come right and has improved out of sight in the last three weeks. You will see a different rider over the next six months.
Mo angled the gelding into the clear 250 metres from home and Kawi then let down strongly for his eighth win from 17 appearances. “He’s a very, very good horse,” Sharrock said. “His work on Tuesday was outstanding, he’s flying.”
Kawi will make his next appearance in the Gr 2 Tauranga Stakes on November 14 followed by the Gr 1 Captain Cook Stakes at Trentham on December 5 and then the Gr 1 Zabeel Classic at Ellerslie on Boxing Day.
