Pins Star Headlines Hong Kong’s Gr.1 Cause

PINS’ star 4YO Ambitious Dragon (pictured above) headlines the Hong Kong cause heading into a star studded edition of the HK$14million Gr.1 Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin this Sunday.

In one of the best fields ever assembled, Ambitious Dragon will take on such international raiders as the recent Gr.1 Dubai World Cup (2000m) hero Victoire Pisa, from Japan; the winner of US’s Gr.1 Oak Tree Goodwood Stakes (1800m) Gitano Hernando, along with recent Gr.1 Dubai Duty Free placegetters, River Jetez and Wigmore Hall.

According to HKJC’s 2011 Form Guide for the QE II, however, locals have good reason to be quietly confident:

“Ambitious Dragon has been a revelation in Hong Kong this season with six wins from seven starts and has progressed superbly under Tony Millard’s care. Stepped up in distance at his past two for outstanding wins in the HK-1 Mercedes-Benz Classic Cup (1800m) and in the HK-1 Mercedes Benz Hong Kong Derby (2000m). Perhaps is still on an upward spiral”
