Lucia Valentina Awarded NSW Pronvincial Horse of the Year

Savabeel mare Lucia Valentina turned the table on Famous Seamous (NZ) to take the title of NSW Provincial Champion Horse of the Year last night.
Having played second fiddle the year before, Lucia Valentina usurped her NZ-bred counterpart with her G1 success in the Turnbull stakes for trainer Kris Lees, her second Group 1 success after victory in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes as a three-year-old.
Lucia Valentina was purchased by Bruce Perry Bloodstock as a yearling at the 2012 Karaka Premier Sale from breeder Blandford Lodge, the now five-year-old mare is owned and raced by Lib Petagna and has earned A$1,233,349 in prizemoney.

Gutsy bebut win for Ardrossan’s Macallan
Ardrossan’s son Macallan impressed on debut in Thursday’s opener at Tauranga, overcoming Heavy10 conditions to win the Tierra Maiden 3YO (1200m) by 1.3 lengths. Trained by Wexford Stables and racing for JML Bloodstock, the gelding showed toughness and class to finish strongly before the meeting was abandoned due to weather.
