Missoni makes her mark

Ocean Park’s daughter Missoni (ex Fashionably) turned her form around in fine style at Wingatui on Friday afternoon with a determined performance to score over 1600 metres.
The Robert Dennis-trained four-year-old had been successful on the course two runs back before she went to Riccarton where she tailed the field home and post-race checks were all clear.
Missoni was back to her usual self today and jumped well for rider Ashvin Goindasamy in the colours of breeder Waikato Stud to settle behind the leading pack away from the fence.
They were into the clear at the top of the straight and, despite the mare racing greenly, finishes resolutely for her second career victory from a handful of starts.
Missoni is out of Fashionably, a mare by Redoute’s Choice and the two-time Group 1 winner Scarlett Lady and also the family of the G3 Challenge Stakes winner and top-flight placegetter Justanexcuse.
Fashionably has an unraced juvenile brother to Missoni, produced a Tivaci filly last season and is due to foal to Per Incanto.
