Moment To Savour In Melbourne
13 June 2011
Time is bringing out the best in the well-related Melbourne galloper Moment To Savour. The four-year-old son of Savabeel has been in outstanding form since returning from a spell and his performance at Sandown yesterday strongly suggested he was capable of making his mark in much better company.
The Peter Moody-trained gelding was turned out in the spring and returned last month to score first-up at Warnambool before finishing second at Sale. He moved up to 1600 metres at Cranbourne yesterday for a comfortable two and a-half length victory under stable jockey Luke Nolan.
Moment To Savour was selected by Moody from WS’s 2008 Premier Sale line-up and was secured for $160,000. He is a half-brother to four winners and most notably the triple Gr 1 winner Metal Bender (Randwick Guineas, Rosehill Guineas, Doomben Cup). Their dam is the Bluebird mare Jacqwin who is a half-sister to the Gr 1 Goodwood Handicap winner and successful sire Keeper.
