Moreira on Kiwi Derby prospect
28 October 2014
Brazilian ace Joao Moreira has been signed up for the ride on New Zealand’s Gr.1 VRC Derby hope Atmosphere.
Prepared by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young for Singapore trainer Shane Baertschiger, the three-year-old features prominently in pre-post betting after his runner-up finishes in the Listed UCI Stakes at Flemington and in last Saturday’s Gr.2 Dilmah Vase at Moonee Valley.
Atmosphere is bred to cope with the Derby trip as a son of Savabeel and a Danasinga mare who is a daughter of the Gr.1 New Zealand Oaks winner and Gr.1 New Zealand Derby placegetter Zepherin.
