Waikato’s nine-time Gr.1 sire Pins featured prominently today following the starring role played by his Little Avondale Stud-bred son out of Laebeel at the 2011 NZB Ready To Run Sale.

The Lyndhurst Farm-consigned colt captured the attention of Queenslander D Hall, who ensured he trumped all at the Karaka auditorium with a knock out bid of $390,000 – the 2-day Sale’s very top price at the time.

Beyond a smart breeze up time of 10.48, Lot 185 had warranted special consideration thanks to his O’Reilly half-brother Collar’s recent success in the Listed Doncaster Stakes at Flemington and Gr.2 placing in the Michelton Wines Vase at Moonee Valley.

Further, desirable black-type lustre could also be found on his pedigree with his dual Gr.3 winning half-brother Larry’s Never Late (Pentire) and through his Zabeel dam Laebeel, who won the Listed Matriarch Stakes at Flemington.
