Probabeel Amazes in Gr.1 Surround Stakes

Probabeel

An amazing performance in the Gr.1 Surround Stakes at Royal Randwick has seen the history-making Savabeel filly Probabeel register her first elite-level win.

The Waikato Stud-bred filly became the first horse to win the Karaka Million 2YO and the Karaka Million 3YO and has reiterated her trainer Jamie Richards’ resolve that she has only got stronger at three with the bold Australian Gr.1 win over 1400m.

The Cambridge Stud-owned filly had all before her swinging for home, but under a calm ride from Opie Bosson she powered home to turn the tables on Funstar for the neck margin win.

Probabeel was a $380,000 purchase by Te Akau Racing’s David Ellis at the 2018 Book One Sale. She has now returned A$1,529,256 in stakes courtesy of 6 wins from 12 career starts.

Probabeel is Savabeel’s 19th individual Gr.1 winner and is the 41st individual Gr.1 winner bred by Waikato Stud.

Interestingly, Probabeel’s paternal granddam Savannah Success also won the Surround Stakes.
