Progeny continue to splash out
27 March 2015
The superbly related Splashing Out was a high-class race mare for WS and she’s continuing to do an outstanding job at stud. The winner of the Gr 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes and runner-up in the Gr 1 Ascot Vale Stakes, the daughter of O’Reilly has a 100 per cent with her progeny.
She is the dam of the Gr 2 Angus Armanasco and the Gr 3 Vanity Stakes winner Shopaholic, whose sister Spending is a winner and stakes placed. Their three-year-old sibling Indulge is a dual winner in Australia for Garry Chittick and Packing Pins is also making an impact in Hong Kong.
The four-year-old Pins-Splashing Out gelding, a $160,000 Karaka purchase from WS’s 2012 Premier draft, struck again at Sha Tin on Sunday. Trained by Ricky Yui, he was successful over 1400 metres to take his record to two wins and two placings from five appearances.
Splashing Out, whose Savabeel colt made $500,000 at Karaka in 2014, is a three-quarter sister to the farm’s multiple Group One winner and future stallion Sacred Falls. He is currently on a path to securing a third consecutive Doncaster Handicap victory.
WS also enjoyed success in Melbourne on Saturday at Bendigo where Agent continued his excellent strike rate. The Pins seven-year-old out of Go Our Dana has won six of his 35 starts for Team Hawkes.
