Pins mare Image Of You continued her sweet run of form this preparation with success over 1600 metres at Te Rapa this afternoon.
The Waikato Stud-bred and sold 4-year-old broke her maiden first-up in October and consecutive runner-up finishes followed before she doubled her winning tally for trainer Jamie Richards and rider Opie Bosson.
“We got the money today and she’s a mare that has needed a bit of time to mature. She’s really getting there now and she didn’t have a lot of luck out there.
“She was posted three wide in midfield and found a good kick, it was a really good win.”
Image Of You improved near the turn and produced a sustained finishing run widest on the track.
“I had to make quite a big run around them and it was a good effort. She’s strengthened up and is a nice mare to follow,” Bosson said.
Bred by Waikato Stud, Image Of You is the first foal of the unraced Savabeel mare Exactly Like You and was purchased by Te Akau’s David Ellis at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $300,000.
Exactly Like You is a sister to the multiple winner and G3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup runner-up Glintz while their dam Glitzy won the Listed Rotorua S.
Under the second dam is the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas winner Imperial Angel and the G2 Matriarch S. winner Savapinski.
