Sandown guineas for blueblood

Caulfield trainer Peter Moody is already eyeing black type with the regally-bred Ngarimu. He has lifted his sights with the three-year-old son of Savabeel and Glamour Puss following his debut win at Seymour on Sunday.
He said all things going well, he would set the horse for next month’s Gr 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m). “He’s a nice colt, he’s always shown us nice ability, but we’ve just had to be a bit patient with him being by Savabeel,” Moody said. “It’s not the easiest track to get shunted wide on the turn, it’s usually a track where you want to be forward on the pace.
“I actually thought he’d be more forward, but he still got the job done nicely and I think he can progress through the grades well, he’s got a good bit of ability. I thought we might head to a restricted race at Flemington during cup week and then head toward the Sandown Guineas, but we could also wait until the autumn if the horse tells us that.”
Raced by his breeder Garry Chittick with Moody, Ngarimu is the sixth winning foal of WS’s dual Group One winner Glamour Puss.
