Savabeel Filly Hits Winning Note

Cheryl Moana Marie’s fortunes finally took a turn for the better when the daughter of Savabeel won at Wanganui on Monday.

The three-year-old has raced with little luck in four previous starts and made no mistake over the metric mile in the hands of Hayden Tinsley for trainers Guy Lowry and Grant Cullen.

From a WS family that has made its mark far, the Garry Chittick-raced filly is out of the unraced Danasinga mare Zephyr Song. Her dam is the Gr 1 New Zealand One winners Zepherin, who is the grand-dam of the Gr 1 South African Derby winner Timber Trader.

Also featuring in Cheryl Moana Marie’s pedigree is the Gr 2 Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Zazzman and the Gr 3 Lowlan Stakes winner Groundless Threat. She was also placed in the Gr 1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas.
