Savabeel mare Ciccina at the double

Ciccina doubled her winning tally from a handful of appearances when she scored with plenty of authority at Coffs Harbour on Sunday afternoon.
The Savabeel 4-year-old came from off the pace with a booming finish for rider Lee Magorrian to sail clear in the closing 150 metres and score by 2.1l.
Waikato Stud graduate Ciccina is prepared at Newcastle by Kris Lees and has now won two of her four starts, having broken her maiden at Taree in late July.
She was bought at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $300,000 by agent Bruce Perry on behalf of prominent Wellington-based owner Lib Petagna.
Ciccina is out of the unraced O’Reilly mare Baby Shacks, who has a 100 per cent record at stud with all four of her foals to race now successful. She produced a Tivaci filly last year and is due to foal to Super Seth.
Baby Shacks is a sister to the G2 Makybe Diva S. winner and G1 Caulfield Cup placegetter Vigor and to the G2 Avondale Guineas winner Joey Massino. Their half-brother Vincent Mangano won the first running of the Karaka Million.
It is a rich pedigree that also features the G1 VRC Derby winner Amalfi and the G1 Greyville Premier’s Champion S. winner Gold Onyx.
