Savabeel’s daughter doubles up
5 January 2015
Savabeel’s top quality daughter Saavoya bagged the second leg of an impressive Group Two double at Ellerslie when she triumphed in Thursday’s NZB Royal Stakes. Successful in the Cambridge Stud Eight Carat Classic on Boxing Day, she again made short work of her rivals in the New Year’s Day feature.
“She’s a very good, tough filly and she’s a Savabeel – they’re flying at the moment and winning everything,” said Murray Baker, who prepares the three-year-old with Andrew Forsman. “We’ve always rated her and we’d like to get her to the Oaks so we will take her home now and give her a freshen up and set her for Trentham.”
Saavoya is out of the Prized mare Royal Prize and is a grand-daughter of the Gr 1 Avondale Cup winner Eva Grace. Her victory continued Savabeel’s another outstanding season for Savabeel who has now sired six stakes winners this term, among them the Group One winners Soriano, Lucia Valentina and Costume.
