Savabeel’s son claims cup
23 September 2013
Classique Ivory became Savabeel’s latest stakes winner when he powered to victory in Saturday’s Listed Kalgoorlie Cup. The WS graduate relished the step up to 2300 metres and stormed home from second last in the running to claim top honours.
He has now won six of his 17 starts for trainer Gino Poletti, who has the Gr.2 Perth Cup at Ascot on New Year’s Day in mind for the progressive five-year-old. “He’ll have at least two or three weeks off then we’ll look at the cup,” Poletti said.
Classique Ivory is out of Senorita Ivory, the stakes placed winner of four races and a half-sister to the Gr 1 Thorndon Mile winner Sir Kinloch. Australian stakes winners Dysphonia and Scarf, who has a black type victory in England to his credit as well, are also members of the family.
