Savarhys Fulfilling Potential
7 February 2013
The well-related Savarhys continued his excellent form this preparation with victory over the Rating 75 metric milers at Tauherenikau yesterday. The four-year-old has now won three times with the last two in succession after a smart performance at Awapuni earlier this month.
The John Sargent-trained son of Savabeel was ridden to victory there by Hayden Tinsley who again has the saddle at today’s Wairarapa meeting. “He gives you a good feel and he was pretty good at his last start and you can’t go too soon on him,” he said.
Bred by WS with Wanganui identity Chris Turner, Savarhys is from the Pins mare Rhysess whose five wins featured the Gr 3 Cuddle Stakes. She was trained by Turner who also prepared her dam Sahrhys to win four times, including the Gr 3 Lowland Stakes. Paul Beamish purchased Savarhys from WS’s 2010 Premier Sale draft for $40,000.
