Hot Run Of Form Continues
The winners continue to flow for WS stallion Savabeel with the Chittick family-owned Savoy giving the in-form son of Zabeel his second winner in as many days when he was successful at Rotorua on Friday. The 2004 Cox Plate winner was also represented the day earlier by Savanur who posted his fifth career victory in the South Island.
Savanur, who began his career at Matamata with Peter McKay before transferring to his brother John’s Wyndham stable, was bred and sold by WS for $200,000 during the 2008 Premier Sale at Karaka. He is out of Last Tycoon mare Sriwijaya who is also the dam of the dual Gr 2 winner Sarajay (Travis Stakes, Gasmate Stakes).
The Mark Brooks-trained Savoy recorded his third victory when he soundly defeated his Rating 80 opposition at Rotorua. He is a half-brother to the farm’s triple Gr 1 winner ‘Daffodil (NZ 1000 Guineas, AJC Oaks, Windsor Park Plate) with their dam the O’Reilly mare Spring.
