Savvy Dancer Brings up 20th SW for Savabeel

A three-way finish to Saturday’s Listed Feilding Gold Cup saw Savvy Dancer bring up Savabeel’s 20th individual stakes winner in nailbiting fashion.

After an impressive stoush to the line, it required a photo to separate Savvy Dancer, Jeu De Cartes and Spiro, with the former two ultimately found to dead heat for the reward.

Ridden by Noel Harris and conditioned by Mike Moroney and Chad Ormbsy, the win represented the 5YO Savabeel gelding’s career highlight to date.

With this and three other wins to his credit, Savvy Dancer’s owners Garry Christini, Mike Moroney, Ruth Redwood, J Smith & Dave Trubshoe, now have good reason for optimism heading into his likely next assignment, the Gr.2 Counties Cup on November 24.

Bred by Tim Stakemire, Savvy Dancer combines the bloodlines of Savabeel with the 3 win Dance Floor mare Energetic Dancer. To date, she has produced 6 runners to race for the three winners Savvy Dancer, Family Jewel (Pins) and Magnifique (Pins).

Savvy Dancer was pinhooked as a weanling by Luke & Mags Anderson from Brighthill Farm’s 2008 NZB National Weanling consignment for $60,000. Seven months later, he was purchased by Paul Moroney at the Select Yearling Sale for $70,000.
