Scarlet O’Hara Plays Starring Role

A well-related filly from the prolific ‘Heights’ family has provided exciting young WS stallion Fast ‘N’ Famous with his second race track success. The son of Redoute’s Choice has only had a handful of first-crop runners and at Waipukurau yesterday his daughter Scarlet O’Hara doubled his winning record.

Fast ‘N’ Famous, who opened his account last month when Smoke ‘N’ Mirrors broke her maiden at New Plymouth, posted his six career wins in succession and matched the best sprinters in Australia before his retirement. He won the Gr 3 Gilgai Stakes and was placed at the highest level in the Galaxy Handicap, All-Aged Stakes and the BTC Cup.

He is out of the stakes-winning Zabeel mare Zalinda with her dam the Gr 1 Railway Handicap winner Alynda. She in turn produced the black-type winners Alinsky, Capestad and Altrista and this is also the family of the Gr 1 William Reid Stakes winner Turffontein.

Scarlet O’Hara is trained by Kevin Gray and she had finished an eye-catching third on debut at Waverley earlier this month. The filly is a half-sister to the dual Listed Invercargill Gold Cup winner Alpine Delight and their third dam is a three-qurater sister to Mapperley Heights ( Gr 1 SA Derby), Noble Heights (Gr 1 NZ 1000 Guineas) and Royal Heights (Gr 1 NZ Oaks). It is also the family of the Melbourne and Caulfield Cup winner Viewed.
