Showing Off Leads The Way

Showing Off led home a WS trifecta at yesterday’s Taupo meeting when the promising Savabeel filly made it two wins from just three appearances. The home-bred three-year-old landed the Rating 65 sprint at the expense of Quintessential (Fast ‘N’ Famous) and Astrogal (O’Reilly).

Trained by Matamata part-owner Danica Guy, Showing Off won her only start at two last season before she was put aside to develop. She returned against the older horses to finish sixth at Te Aroha last month before a return to her winning ways this afternoon.

A $3500 weanling purchase, she is out of the O’Reilly mare Maggie O’Reilly whose only other foal to race No Excuse Maggie (No Excuse Needed) has also been a winner. They represent the prolific WS family of dual Gr 1 winners Glamour Puss and Vision And Power.
