Rewarding Times For Savabeel
Kudakulari completed a lucrative weekend for WS stallion Savabeel when
he posted a stylish fresh-up victory in Sunday’s Listed Canberra
Guineas. Thethree-year-old had trialled impressively for his return to racing after asix month break and, as expected, was produced in fine fettle by master
trainer Bart Cummings for the 1400 metre feature.
Savabeel had on Saturday sired the Gr 2 Kewney Stakes winner Do Ra Mi,
whois raced by her breeder Garry Chittick, while at home his daughter
Scarlett Lady confirmed her promise with a smart maiden win at Ellerslie. The
Graeme and Debbie Rogerson-trained filly has been set for the Gr 1 Queensland
Oaks during the Brisbane winter carnival.
Kudakulari has now won twice at black-type level following his success
lastseason in the Fernhill Handicap and he was also stakes placed as a
two-year-old. A $140,000 yearling at Karaka, the youngster is out of the
O’Reilly mare Oenotria and is from the Gr 1 family of Dorabella (NZ
1000 Guineas, Captain Cook Stakes).
