Stakes test for promising savabeel 3YO

Talented three-year-old Ngarimu will step out in black type company at Flemington on Saturday as a lead in to a bigger prize later this month. The son of Group One winners Savabeel and Glamour Puss will make his second race day appearance in the $A150,000 Listed Hilton Hotels & Resorts Stakes.
“He’s a nice colt, a progressive colt and the step up to 1400 metres will suit, however he might even find it a bit short,” Moody said. “I’ve got the idea he might be up to a race like the Sandown Guineas and he needs more experience before he gets there.”
The $A350,000 Sandown Guineas will be run over a mile on November 14. Raced by Moody with breeder Garry Chittick, Ngarimu was an easy winner at Seymour on debut and will be ridden by Glenn Boss on Saturday.
“Horses don’t seem to have been running on at Flemington this week so whether he will get his opportunity I’m not sure,” Moody said. “This is his first serious preparation, he was in and went shin sore and we’ve taken our time with him. I do think he’s a nice colt, whatever he does now he’ll be better in the autumn.”
