Tivaci 3YO deserved victor

Tivaci

The Replicant enjoyed a soft breakthrough victory at Kembla Grange this afternoon to cap off an encouraging start he has made to his career.

The Waikato Stud-bred son of Tivaci had placed in four of his previous five appearances and the good-looking three-year-old made no mistake over 1500 metres.

Trained by Joseph Pride, The Replicant was opposed by only two rivals and sat back off them before sweeping down the outside for rider Rory Hutchings to score with authority.

He was purchased out of the Matamata farm’s draft at the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale by Pride for $130,000.

The Replicant is a half-brother to the Hong Kong winner Go Toby Go and they are out of the unraced O’Reilly mare Oahu, whose Ocean Park colt sold to Tony Pike at Karaka earlier this year for $165,000.

Oahu, who foaled another son of Ocean Park in 2021 before visiting Savabeel, is a sister to black-type winner Sacred Capital and the family of the farm’s multiple Group 1-winning graduate and producer Alamosa.
