Steed’s golden run continues

Golden Sand Steed continued his admirable winning strike rate in Singapore on Friday night with further success at Kranji.

The WS graduate has now won eight times from 25 appearances with a further 10 minor placings to his credit.

Trained by Mark Walker, the Pins five-year-old showed he had taken improvement from a first-up fourth with a dominant win in class two company. The gelding was a $65,000 Karaka purchase for Te Akau principal David Ellis and is a half-brother to six winners, including Strike The Stars (Gr 3 Gloaming Stakes).

Their dam is the former Group One performer Ambitious and the family of Diademe (Gr 2 Cal Isuzu Stakes).

Kovalica gives Ocean Park and Saturday double in Gr.2 Q22

Ocean Park’s Group 1 winner Kovalica returned to top form in the Gr.2 Q22, while Identikit impressed with a dominant 6.8-length win at Wanganui on heavy ground.

It’s in the Blood: Maison Louis

“We’ve bred quite a few mares to Super Seth, so hopefully we’ve got some quite promising horses in work by him,” said Leon Casey of Pencarrow Stud who bred Super Seth’s fourth Group 1 winner, Maison Louis.
