Strong close to select sale
1 February 2014
WS’s solid Select Sale pace was maintained right through to the end of the session this afternoon. The Matamata farm saved the best until last when their Savabeel colt was knocked down to Hong Kong interests for $125,000.
He is a half-brother to five winners, including the Listed New Zealand St Leger winner Ritzy Lady. Their dam is the Centaine mare Ever Clever, who is a half-sister to the South African Group Three winner Hancock Park, the Listed Champagne Stakes winner Playful Fingers and the Listed Debutante Stakes winner and Group One performer Clever Zoe.
Four lots earlier, WS had been rewarded with $115,000 for a smart son of Pins from the Danasinga mare Etoile Centieme. She has already produced the Listed Widden Stakes winner Delta Girl and the current fasmily of the Gr 2 Cal Isuzu Stakes winner Diademe and the Gr 1 Thorndon Mile placegetter Sacred Star. He was purchased by Cambridge agent Michael Wallace.
Meanwhile, Paco Boy’s popularity continued with Collett Racing Stables paying $34,000 for a colt out of the Anabaa mare Chilled Out while Murray Baker was again in the market for the stock of Savabeel. He paid $27,000 for the filly out of a sister to the stakes winner and Group One performer Raid.
