Top Family Strikes Again
10 January 2013
A well-established WS family welcomed its latest winning member into the fold at Paeroa this afternoon. The Savabeel filly Savabela Rose returned from a four month break to shed her maiden status and head on to bigger and better things.
Fourth in her spring debut at Te Rapa at her only previous appearance, Savabela Rose is trained by Frank Ritchie and was a $15,000 yearling purchase. She was put under pressure near the turn by rider Jason Waddell and responded to finished well for a narrow victory. “She looked a bit flat on the corner and it was a lovely ride by Jason – she needs to get out and get going and she’s got plenty of heart,” Ritchie said.
Savabela Rose is a daughter of the Centaine mare Snobbish, a sister to the champion filly and multiple Gr 1 winner Slight Chance. Snobbish has left eight winners, including the stakes winner Legsman (Pins), and the damn of the Gr 1 Queensland Derby winner Brambles (Savabeel) and black type winner Lopov (Savabeel).
