A son of champion sire Pins with an internationally successful pedigree was to the fore at yesterday’s Sale meeting in Victoria. WS graduate Vitallico recorded the fourth victory of his career when he won over 1400 metres for the trainer/jockey combination of Stephen Theodore and Brad Rawiller.
The five-year-old, a $75,000 Karaka purchase, is out of the stakes-performed Centaine mare Zephuros who is a half-sister to the dual Gr 2 Surround and Tea Rose Stakes winner Glenview. She was also a multiple Gr 1 placegetter and at stud produced the Gr 1 South African Derby winner and sire Timber Trader.
Pins’ associate sire Savabeel was also represented by a winner on the Sale card when the Michael Moroney-trained Mr Molokai picked up the third win of his career with an effortless victory over 1700m. The four-year-old was a $100,000 yearling and is out of an unraced half-sister to the Gr 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner Hulastrike and successful sire Yamanin Vital.
