Trainer relaxed about Derby jockey
18 March 2016
Connections of What’s The Story are in no rush to confirm a rider for their colt in the $A2 million Gr.1 Australian Derby.
“It’s easier to wait until after the Rosehill Guineas when the jockeys have sorted themselves out,” co-trainer Stephen McKee said.
What’s The Story had a quiet week after finishing runner-up in the Gr.1 New Zealand Derby and he will travel to Australia four days before the Randwick feature on April 2.
“He’s got the base fitness and he’ll have a couple of decent gallops before he goes over,” McKee said.
