Trendy Makes A Winning Statement
16 September 2011
A Pins filly with an international pedigree added performance to her CV with an impressive debut win at Te Rapa today. Trendy had been a lead-up trial winner and the three-year-old carried that over to raceday with a commanding frontrunning performance in the hands of Rogan Norvall.
Trained by Anne Herbert at Cambridge, Trendy is out of the American-bred Saint Ballado mare Trujillo whose only foal to race has been the winner Our Tigress.
The second dam by the Sadler’s Wells horse In The Wings is a three-quarter sister to the Gr 2 Prix Chaudenay winner Wareed and a half-sister to the Canadian Gr 2 Taylor Stakes winner Truly A Dream. Its is also the family of the Gr 1 Irish Oaks winner Moonstone and the Gr 2 Doncaster Cup winner Honolulu.
Trujillo was bought out of Blandford Lodge’s Premier Sale draft to Karaka last year by Masterton bloodstock agent Bruce Perry for $90,000.
