Well-bred Pins colt Ultimate Warrior opened his winning account in Melbourne on Friday night when successful at Moonee Valley. The three-year-old was making his third appearance and went one better over 1500 metres after finishing runner-up at his previous Seymour outing.
Ultimate Warrior is trained by Danny O’Brien who purchased him for $190,000 out of WS’s 2009 Premier Sale draft to Karaka in 2009. He is a half-brother to the triple Gr 2 winner Century Kid (TJ Smith Stakes, Premiere Stakes, QTC Cup, 2nd Gr 1 Galaxy Handicap). They are out of the Pompeii Court mare Zeffi who is from the family of WS’s international Gr 1 winner and successful sire Starcraft (Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, Moulin de Longchamp, Australian Derby, Chipping Norton Stakes, Mudgway Parstworld Stakes, Hawke’s Bay Challenge Stakes).
