Well-Related Chandelier Lights Up
17 December 2012
Memories of former top racemare Irlanda were rekindled at Ellerslie yesterday with the opening success of the WS-bred and raced Chandelier.
Raced by Dan Carter and WS, the filly is a sister to the Gr 2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes and Gr 1 NZ Breeders’ Stakes runner-up.
By O’Reilly out of the Centaine mare Cenphic, Chandelier is also a half-sister to the multiple winner Go Our Kingi and is from the family of Group One performer Spring Rain (Centaine).
Chandelier had weighed in twice from hyer previous four starts for Byerley Park trainers Peter and Dawn Williams. She made no mistake yesterday with a strong win in the hands of apprentice Shohei Shirahama.
