Savabeel shines on opening day

A son of Savabeel led the way for WS on the opening day of NZB’s National Weanling Sale at Karaka. The bay youngster is out of the unraced Pins mare Dita von Teese and was knocked down for $40,000 to Denny and Mark Baker’s Hallmark Stud.
The colt is a grandson of the Listed Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes winner Lookatmelads, a half-sister to the Australian stakes performer Caramel Sundae. It is also the Group One family of Fully Fledged (Diamond Stakes) and Showmeran (Toorak Handicap).
A colt by former WS resident Paco Boy from the family of top-flight Australian performers Headturner (Australian Derby) and Anacheeva (Caulfield Guineas) went to Hong Kong interests for $26,000 while a son of O’Reilly made $25,000. Purchased by NZB as agent, he is out of a winning sister to the dam of Glamour Puss (Salinger Stakes, Goodwood Handicap) and Vision And Power (George Ryder Stakes, Doncaster Handicap).
