Pins’ son reigns supreme

Pins’ veteran son Regency King continues to make his mark in Hong Kong. The seven-year-old posted the sixth win of his career at Happy Valley last night with a comprehensive victory in a class three mile.

Ridden by star Australian jockey Brett Prebble for trainer Chris So, the gelding had finished runner-up when resuming last month and showed the benefit of that outing with his length and three-quarter success. The chestnut graduate of WS is out of the O’Reilly mare Ice Maiden, who was the winner of three races.

She has also produced the Australian stakes winner Frozone while second foal Pins On Ice won three times in Victoria. Regency King began his career in New Zealand as Icepin and won four races for Jason Bridgman, including the Gr 3 Waikato Stud Classic as a two-year-old and the following season he claimed the Gr 2 Avondale Guineas.
