Fast ‘N’ Famous Strikes In Australia
5 September 2011
Fast ‘N’ Famous was represented by his first Australian winner yesterday when Famous By Name was successful in Victoria. The lightly-raced colt stepped up to 1600 metres for the first time at Wangaratta and opened his account in good style under rider Luke Currie.
Trained at Mornington by Dean Binaisse, Famous By Name was making the third appearance of his career and had finished runner-up on debut. The three-year-old, who was a $25,000 yearling at Karaka, is out of the unraced High Yield mare High Tudor who is a half-sister to the Gr 1 Toorak Handicap winner Allez Wonder.
He is the third winner for Fast ‘N’ Famous from limited runners with Smoke ‘N’ Mirrors and Scarlet O’Hara both successful as juveniles last season. The WS stallion, who stands at $8000 + GST, won six of his 13 Australia starts including the Gr 3 Gilgai Stakes and the son of Redoute’s Choice was also a three-time Gr 1 placegetter.
