Rematch for Hong Kong’s sprint stars

Only a neck separated Aerovelocity from Peniaphobia in the Gr.1 Longines Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin in December and on Sunday the pair’s keenly awaited rematch will take place in the HK-1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize (1200m).

“There’s probably not a lot between a few of these horses,” said Aerovelocity’s trainer Paul O’Sullivan. “Especially Aerovelocity and Peniaphobia, I think the best run in the race will win it, if they both race up to their form.”

Should he run up to expectations on Sunday an international campaign could be on the cards for the six-year-old son of Pins.

“As long as he races well we’ll be looking at either Dubai (Gr.1 Dubai Golden Shaheen) or Japan (Gr.1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen) – and if not, we’ll maybe sit back and get him ready for Singapore. Hopefully he’ll just run well enough to justify a trip,” said O’Sullivan.
